The main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s President and candidate in the party's presidential primary, Mohamed Nasheed, will be meeting with the public this week.
The meeting will be held on December 28 at 8:30 pm at Sultan Park. The meeting is open to public and is expected to focus on the MDP presidential primary.
MDP has scheduled its primary for January 28. When the deadline to submit candidacy papers expired on December 24, only two candidates, Nasheed and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, had submitted the application. Nasheed submitted his form on December 23, while President Solih submitted the application on December 24.
According to MDP regulations, candidate No. 1 will be given to the first person to submit the form. Therefore, candidate No. 1 will be President Nasheed, and candidate No. 2 will be President Solih.
