Defense Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi has been appointed as President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's campaign spokesperson for the MDP presidential primary.
President Solih will be contesting against MDP's President and Parliament Speaker, Mohamed Nasheed, in the main-ruling party's presidential primary slated for January 28.
Mariya, the Maldives' first female Defense Minister, was also President Solih's campaign spokesperson when he contested the 2018 Presidential Election. She has also served as MDP's Chairperson and as a Parliament member for 20 years.
President Solih's first campaign rally is scheduled to be held tonight.
