Direct flights from 21 countries operating to the Maldives

There are currently 21 countries offering direct flights to the Maldives, the Tourism Ministry has said.

A total of 21 countries, including Asian and European countries, are operating direct flights to the Maldives as of January 4, according to statistics released by the Tourism Ministry. These include the top source markets for Maldives tourism. Currently, 33 airlines operate flights to the Maldives.

According to statistics, 22,297 tourists have visited the Maldives as of January 4, an increase of seven percent over the same period last year.

The largest number of tourists that visited during this period came from Russia. The Maldives received 4,402 tourists from Russia, followed by 3,854 tourists from Italy. India, which was 2022's top source market, is currently at position three on the arrivals chart, with 1,605 arrivals thus far this year. The Maldives has seen 1,261 arrivals from the UK and 1,242 from Germany. All five countries have direct flights to the Maldives.

There are currently 168 resorts, 869 guesthouses, 158 safaris, and 13 hotels operating in the Maldives, with a total of 59,657 beds in service between them.
