Teacher arrested on drug charges remanded in custody

The Foakaidhoo teacher arrested in a drug case has been remanded in custody.

The 47-year-old teacher was arrested under a court order on charges of drug use and trafficking on Saturday. A 20-year-old man was also arrested along with the teacher. According to the police, the two were produced before the court to decide on their remand and were remanded in custody for 15 days.

A source in Foakaidhoo told AVAS that police searched the teacher’s residence and seized books used for witchcraft along with drugs. The teacher has several allegations against him, the source said.
