The Criminal Court will start the trial of Shiaau Mohamed Saeed's murder case on Sunday.

Shiaau, 22, from Gn. Fuvahmulah, was found brutally murdered at a home in Henveiru ward of Male' City on August 6 last year. A suspect, Ali Shahil, 23, was arrested at the crime scene.

The Prosecutor General's Office filed five charges against Shahil on December 28, 2022. The charges against him include intentional homicide using a sharp object, possession of pornographic material, and the use of cannabis.

The Criminal Court said the trial would not be open to the public.
