Clashes have occurred at a polling station in GDh. Gadhdhoo during the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s Presidential primary.
The MDP primary is contested by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed. The clashes broke out when a group was accused of wearing body cams and recording footage while casting their vote.
During the confrontation, a group entered the polling station and tore up ballot papers. Some stood on the administrative tables and shouted threats at each other during the chaos. Voting was suspended at the polling station following the clashes.
There have been various administrative issues and voting complaints at polling stations in the MDP presidential primary.
