President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday evening conferred the National Award for Public Service on 86 public servants. The awards were presented at a special ceremony held in Dharubaaruge for the occasion.
The National Award for Public Service is the most prestigious award conferred by the President on individuals who have been serving the nation for over 35 years and are observed as diligent and steadfast employees who have contributed towards the development of their respective fields. The award was introduced in 2021.
Sobira Waheed received the National Award for Public Service for her more than 50 years of service at the Malé Water and Sewerage Company Ltd. (MWSC).
The National Awards Committee selected the recipients, of whom 25 were women. The recipients included civil servants who had served in various capacities in government offices and institutions. Speaking at the function, President Solih extended his congratulations to the recipients.
Hawwa Nasiha, Chief Librarian at the National Library, addressed the ceremony on behalf of the recipients.
