Decision to be made after meeting with President: MRM

The Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) has said that it will decide on its course of action regarding the upcoming presidential election when the party's leader, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, returns to the Maldives.

The MRM has said this in response to a letter sent to the leaders of the ruling coalition on behalf of the main-ruling MDP presidential candidate, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The President's letter invited the current coalition leaders to form a new alliance for this year's presidential election.

The MRM confirmed that it had received a letter sent to the party's leader inviting him to hold a discussion with President Solih. The party said it wished to meet President Solih about its recent experiences as a partner in the coalition government and regarding the upcoming presidential election.

"However, at the moment, President Maumoon is abroad. Therefore, once President Maumoon returns to the Maldives, the party will share with President Solih a convenient time to hold the requested meeting," the party said.
