Seventeen plots of land have been purchased from Hulhumale' for government use. The land was purchased for MVR 878.4 million from Hulhumale' Phase II.
On behalf of the government, the Finance Ministry bought 17 plots of land ranging from 15,000 sqft to 66,000 sqft. The civil court completed the land purchase transaction on Tuesday and transferred ownership to the government.
The government is yet to announce for what purposes the land will be used.
The government has previously bought land from the Housing Development Corporation. Some of such land has been allocated for diplomatic purposes.
