MRM's Faris meets with Qasim

Jumhooree Party leader, Qasim Ibrahim has met with President of the Maldives Reform Movement (MRM), Faris Maumoon.

Representatives of President Solih met with Qasim earlier this month, while President Solih himself met with Qasim on March 1. Despite an invitation from President Solih, a meeting between President Solih and MRM leader MAumoon Abdul Gayyoom ar eyet to take place as MAumoon is currently abroad.

Meanwhile, the current coalition partner, Adhaalath Party's President and Home Minister Imran Abdulla, has also met with Qasim regarding the election. Adhaalath Party has already agreed to form an alliance with MDP. Representatives of MDP's President and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed, who has said he would not back President SOlih in the presidential election, have also met with Qasim for discussion.

At the JP's national conference held last month, the party approved to field its own candidate for the September presidential election. Earlier this week, the JP Council empowered Qasim Ibrahim to make decisions on the presidential election.
