A tourist has drowned while vacationing in the Maldives.
The 48-year-old UK national passed away while swimming in the sea after disembarking from a safari moored at Alif Alif atoll harbour. AVAS has learned that the man was taken to a hospital shortly after the incident. However, he had already passed away when he was taken to the hospital.
A German tourist also drowned while on holiday at Kuramathi Resort last week.
