Chief of Staff at the President's Office, Ali Zahir, has said President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will easily win the upcoming presidential election.
Ali Zahir tweeted on Tuesday that he was confident that the MDP-led coalition between MDP, Adalath Party, and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) would work together to win the upcoming presidential election easily. Ali Zahir's remarks came after the Jumhooree Party, which is part of the existing ruling coalition, decided to field its own candidate and lead its own coalition in the presidential election.
JP's decision to field its own candidate comes while President Solih has invited coalition partners to form an alliance with MDP for the September presidential election. Before the JP took its decision, President Solih's representatives, Vice President Faisal Naseem, who belongs to JP, and Adalath Party President, Home Minister Imran Abdullah, also met Gasim and repeatedly invited him to form a coalition with the MDP.
