JP opens application to contest presidential primary

Jumhooree Party (JP) has opened application to contest the party's presidential primary.

Although a part of the ruling coalition, JP decided earlier this week to field its own candidate and lead its own coalition for the upcoming presidential election. According to the JP's constitution, the party's candidate for the presidential election will be determined in a primary.

An announcement issued by JP today invited interested parties to submit their names. The deadline for submissions is 12 pm on March 30.

The presidential election is scheduled for September 9. If a second round of voting is required, the run-off will be held on September 30.
