Shifaz dismissed from President's Office Minister post

The President's Office Minister, Mohamed Shifaz, has been dismissed from the post.

Shifaz was appointed Minister of the President's Office on November 22, 2018.

While the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is seeing internal division like never before, with one wing supporting President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the other, Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed. The Deputy President of MDP, Shifaz is a supporter of Nasheed. In recent weeks, Shifaz has been heavily critical of the government for not fulfilling its promises.

Shifaz's dismissal comes while there has been concern about his lack of attendance to the office.

Earlier this week, the President's Office ordered the dismissal of the State Trading Organization (STO) 's then Managing Director, Hussain Amr.
