Fifth Tourism Master Plan unveiled

The Fifth Tourism Master Plan has been officially unveiled.

Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail launched the Fifth Tourism Master Plan 2023-2027 at a ceremony held at the National University auditorium on Thursday morning.

The new plan addresses the challenges in the tourism field and outlines strategies to overcome them. It includes ways to move forward in tourism with the Maldives' competitors.

The master plan also focuses on measures that can be taken to increase tourism revenue, and the number of tourist facilities and provide opportunities for new services and experiences. It also details ways to expand tourism in the atolls in such a way that tourism revenue benefits inhabited islands.

The comprehensive master plan was crafted over a period of three years by the Tourism Ministry, with grant assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
