MNP hands over presidential ticket to party pres

The Maldives National Party (MNP) has officially handed over its presidential ticket to the party's President, Mohamed Nazim.

Nazim was the only one who submitted his nomination papers when the MNP opened the opportunity to contest the party's presidential primary last year. Therefore, Nazim secured the ticket by default without a primary.

Nazim was handed over the presidential ticket at a special MNP rally held at Artificial Beach on Friday night. The party also launched its presidential campaign, unveiling the logo, slogan, and song that will be used to promote the MNP candidate.

A large number of MNP supporters from across the Maldives attended Friday's rally.

The MDP, PPM, JP, and newly-announced political party, The Democrats, have announced their intention to contest the September presidential election. Former Home Minister Umar Naseer and former Attorney General Dr. Mohamed Munawwar have also announced that they would contest the election as independent candidates.
