President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Vice President Faisal Naseem as the Amir al-Hajj for this year. As the Amir al-Hajj, the Vice President would ensure the smooth and safe operation of the Maldivian pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia has allocated 1,000 quotas to the Maldives for the Hajj this year. The government has given permission to three private companies and the state-owned Maldives Hajj Corporation to take people to Hajj. The pilgrims will start departing from the Maldives tomorrow.
The President's Office said the administration accords high priority to the secure and smooth conduct of the Hajj pilgrimage. All necessary actions are taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the pilgrims.
