MVR 5 bln spent on PSIP projects

The government has spent MVR 5 billion thus far this year on the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) projects.

According to the Finance Ministry, this is a 64.2 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year, where MVR 3 billion was spent on PSIP projects.

Of the amount spent, MVR 744 million was dedicated to water and sewerage projects, while MVR 648.8 million was spent on road construction projects. Additionally, an expenditure of MVR 600 million was spent on airport projects, MVR 546 million on harbor construction projects, and MVR 460 million on bridge projects.

A further MVR 565 million was channeled into land reclamation projects, while MVR 441 million was spent on housing projects.

A total of MVR 8.5 billion was allocated for PSIP projects in this year's budget.
