The leader and President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, expressed unwavering confidence in the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), affirming its commitment to always move forward
In a tweet commemorating the 18th anniversary of the MDP, President Solih congratulated the party members and said the party and its members would always move forward.
While MDP celebrates its anniversary, the party recently saw the exodus of 13 of its MPs and several members to join a break-off party, The Democrats. The party's President and Parliament Speaker, Mohamed Nasheed, has also left the party.
On the occasion of MDP's anniversary, the party's Chairperson, Fayyaz Ismail, released a video statement. In his message, Fayyaz emphasized that the MDP and the country hold greater significance for its members than any individual and described the embodiment of the philosophy within the party as a huge success for the party.
