Fayyaz expresses confidence in Pres Solih's victory with overwhelming support

The main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s Chairperson and Economic Minister, Fayyaz Ismail, conveyed his strong belief in President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's imminent victory in the upcoming presidential election.

Speaking at a mass rally held at Male' Carnival Area on Friday night, Fayyaz confidently asserted that President Solih would secure no less than 56 percent of the vote in the election.

Fayyaz went on to direct a special message to those who left the MDP and formed The Democrats and the party's ordinary members. Predicting that The Democrats' presidential candidate, Ilyas Labeeb, would attain fourth place in the election, Fayyaz called on The Democrats to vote for President Solih to maintain the peace and progress achieved under the incumbent government and prevent a return to past injustices. The Democrats' support would boost the President's vote share to 60 percent, he said.

"Present here are five percent of the voters. The President will win this election," Fayyaz said, noting the significant crowd at the rally and underscoring the widespread support for President Solih.

Fayyaz said the election was already over with its results evident. He encouraged individuals who align with MDP's ideology but have temporarily distanced themselves from the party not to waste their votes.

Referring to the PPM-PNC presidential candidate, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Fayyaz said he was a candidate associated with crimes and wrongdoings.
