The Election Commission (EC) has announced the latest membership statistics of political parties in the Maldives.
The EC today said the MDP had 58,035 members as of the end of June, maintaining its position as the largest political party in the Maldives.
The next largest party is the opposing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), with 38,831 members. The Jumhooree Party (JP) followed behind with 22,705 members. The Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) had 10,227 members.

The Election Commission last updated the register of political parties in February this year. When compared to the figures from February, the number of members of all parties except the MDP, PPM, and JP has declined.
The MDP, JP, MRM, and Adhaalath Party are the parties in the ruling coalition. The MDP, JP, MRM, and Adhaalath Party are the parties in the ruling coalition., while the PPM and PNC are working together as an opposition coalition. The MNP has also declared itself an opposition party and works independently. The MDA has decided to form a coalition with the MDP in the upcoming presidential election, while JP has said it will form its own coalition for the election.
