EC releases latest political party membership statistics

The Election Commission (EC) has announced the latest membership statistics of political parties in the Maldives.

The EC today said the MDP had 58,035 members as of the end of June, maintaining its position as the largest political party in the Maldives.

The next largest party is the opposing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), with 38,831 members. The Jumhooree Party (JP) followed behind with 22,705 members. The Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) had 10,227 members.

The Election Commission last updated the register of political parties in February this year. When compared to the figures from February, the number of members of all parties except the MDP, PPM, and JP has declined.

The MDP, JP, MRM, and Adhaalath Party are the parties in the ruling coalition.
