Thoddoo MP Hassan Shiyan has rejoined the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Shiyan was elected as the Member of Parliament for the Thoddoo constituency on the MDP ticket. Amid differences within the MDP, Shiyan chose to work with Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed and was one of the first MPs to sign up for MDP's break-off party, The Democrats.
Joining MDP again on Friday night, MP Shiyan handed over his membership form to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
MP Shiyan's return to MDP aligns with the trend of several others, including Kulhudhuffushi MP Yasir Abdul Lateef and Kulhudhuffushi Mayor Mohamed Athif, who have transitioned back to MDP after a short period with The Democrats.
