State Minister of Health, Dr. Shah Mahir, has tendered his resignation and joined The Democrats party.
The President's Office confirmed that Shah's resignation letter had been received.
In his resignation letter, Shah expressed that he had not been given the chance to implement his technical advice and guidance within the ministry. Previously affiliated with the Jumhooree Party, Shah also announced his resignation from the party, citing a misalignment of the party's policies with his own perspectives.
On Monday, Shah officially joined The Democrats during a ceremony attended by party founder Hassan Latheef and Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed. Nasheed personally received Shah's membership form.
