Two-day re-registration window for the second round of presidential election

The Election Commission (EC) will be granting a two-day re-registration window for those who wish to change their place of voting in the second round of the presidential election.

The provisional results of yesterday's presidential election called for a second round, as no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote in the first round. The second round is scheduled for September 30.

President of the Elections Commission, Fuwad Thawfeek, said voters who wish to change their place of voting for the second round will be granted a two-day window for re-registration. While the tentative dates for re-registration for the second round are set for September 16-17, the official date has yet to be officially confirmed.

The second round will be contested by the PPM-PNC candidate, who received 46 percent of the vote in the first round, and incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who received 39 percent of votes.
