The Jumhooree Party (JP) has said that it will continue its efforts toward the country's reform, regardless of the outcome of the presidential election.
In Saturday's presidential election, JP's candidate, Qasim Ibrahim, secured fifth place, receiving 5,523 votes, which fell short of expectations.
In a press release issued today, the JP said it would continue its efforts to reform the nation and promote the welfare and prosperity of the people.
“The party will continue to do what is necessary to ensure the country's peace, security, and economic well-being,” the statement read.
The party also announced that it would soon reveal its decision on which candidate to endorse for the second round of the presidential election, following discussions within the party council. JP expressed its gratitude to all those who supported its presidential candidate in the election.
