Adhaalath Party reaffirms support for Pres Solih

The main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s coalition partner for the presidential election, the Adhaalath Party, has assured its unwavering commitment to support President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The reassurance comes in the wake of the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), which was also in a coalition with MDP. On Tuesday night, it abruptly withdrew from the coalition and shifted its endorsement to the rival candidate, PPM-PNC's Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The Adhaalath Party said it will continue to support President Solih for the second round of the presidential election in accordance with the decision taken by the party's consultative council earlier this year to back him in the election.

“The AP remains steadfast in its support for the President in the presidential election,” the party said.

In addition, the party said it will continue working with President Solih and MDP supporters to do what is necessary to secure victory in the presidential election.
