Voting suspended in L. Fonadhoo due to ballot paper issue

Voting at Laamu Fonadhoo Number 3 Polling Station in the Maldives' presidential election has been suspended due to an issue with ballot papers issued to voters.

The problem arose when it came to light that three blank ballot papers issued by an official had been drawn on. A complaint was lodged regarding this incident, and it is currently under investigation by the police.

In response to various election-related incidents across the country, the police have arrested four individuals so far. These incidents include a person who displayed their ballot paper and took a photograph of it. One of the arrested individuals has since been released.

As of 11:00 am today, 97,220 people have cast their ballots out of the 282,804 eligible voters. A total of 586 ballot boxes have been set up for the election.
