Maldives gov't strongly condemns Israeli attacks on Gaza Hospital

The Maldives government has strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza Strip.

Early last night, Israel conducted an airstrike on an area within Al Ahli Hospital where hundreds of people were taking refuge, claiming the lives of several hundred innocent Palestinians. The Israeli army claims that this location was being used as a refuge by Hamas militants fighting for Palestinian independence. While the death toll from the attack has now reached nearly 800, Israel now asserts that the hospital was not its primary target.

Condemning the attack in a statement, the Maldives government said attacks on hospitals and civilian infrastructures, targeting civilians are unacceptable and are in explicit contravention of international humanitarian law.

The statement reiterated the government's call on the international community to use all possible measures to stop the inhumane attacks against innocent Palestinians and urge the international community to expedite the opening of humanitarian corridors to facilitate the delivery of medicines, food supplies, and basic needs to the Gaza Strip.

According to media reports, the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks since the 7th of this month has now reached nearly 4,000. The fighting is unlikely to come to a halt in the near future, and the death toll will continue to rise sharply, according to media reports.
