Deputy Mayor Nareesh announces candidacy for upcoming Parliamentary Elections

Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh has announced his decision to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Nareesh said on Monday that he would contest under the PPM-PNC banner for the Kulhudhuffushi North constituency, the sole city located in the northern region of the Maldives. Nareesh, who hails from GA. Kolamaafushi, said he decided to contest the seat in response to the numerous requests from the constituency's residents.

“I am committed to being a dedicated representative of the people. I will speak for all members of the constituency, and I will work with the government for the development of the constituency. I will stand firmly with the government and the people to give Kulhudhuffushi the status of a true city,” he said.

Nareesh urged PPM-PNC members to support him and assist him in winning the party primary to secure the party ticket.

Currently, Nareesh is taking on the responsibilities of Mayor of Male' City following the election of Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu as the new President of the Maldives.
