Nareesh decides against contesting Kulhudhuffushi North seat in the parliamentary election

Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh has decided against contesting for the Kulhudhuffushi North constituency in the upcoming parliamentary election.

Last month, Nareesh, who hails from GA. Kolamaafushi, had announced his intention to contest the Kulhudhuffushi seat under the PPM-PNC banner. Nareesh said he decided to contest the seat in response to the numerous requests from the constituency's residents.

However, Nareesh on Wednesday announced he would not be contesting for the constrnecy's seat. Nareesh explained that he had reconsidered his decision after observing the strong sentiment among the people of Kulhudhuffushi in favor of a candidate who hails from their city.

"I hold deep respect for the views and opinions of the people of Kulhudhuffushi City, and, therefore, I have decided not to pursue the primary for Kulhudhuffushi North," Nareesh stated.

Currently, Nareesh is taking on the responsibilities of Mayor of Male' City following the election of Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu as the new President of the Maldives.
