The opposing Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has launched a study to understand the reasons behind their losses in the recent presidential and parliamentary elections.
Last month, the MDP's National Assembly decided to conduct a study to understand the causes of the MDP's failure. As per the decision, the Research Committee met with the MPs representing Male' City in the last 19th Parliament today. The committee also met with the party’s National Assembly members.
A party official said the study would also be conducted in the atolls.
The MDP lost the last presidential election and secured only 12 out of 93 constituencies in the subsequent parliamentary election.
The MDP has assured that despite the losses, the party will always remain committed to upholding democratic principles, holding the government accountable, and protecting the rights of the Maldivian people.
