MDP opens candidacy for parliamentary group positions

The main opposition party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), has opened candidacy for positions within its parliamentary group.

The MDP secured 12 seats in the recent parliamentary election for the 20th Parliament.

The party announced that the parliamentary group election will be held on May 28, the same day the 20th Parliament is sworn in. The MDP will elect a parliamentary group leader and two deputy leaders, as well as a Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General. Additionally, a Chief Whip and two whips will be elected.

MDP parliamentary group members interested in these positions must notify the party before 2:00 pm on May 27.
