Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM)'s Managing Director Mohamed Gasam has said he has not engaged in any actions to obtain undue gains.
Gasam's comments come amid criticism over the suspension of an employee of the company who recorded the disposal of FENAKA documents using a cement mixer and shared it on social media.
After several days of silence over the FSM documents, Gasam issued a brief statement on Tuesday expressing concern about individuals on social media attempting to propagate the notion that FSM documents were destroyed to conceal wrongdoing and hide evidence.
“I would like to reassure my parents, family, relatives, close friends, and the public that I remain committed to the values instilled in me by my parents,” the statement said.
Gasam emphasized that he consistently ensures that his earnings are acquired through lawful means. Any work he has done at FSM was for the betterment of the company, he added.
"I can assure you that I have not done anything to gain any illegal benefits that I would need to hide," Gasam said.
FSM has said the documents that were destroyed had been stored for many years and were presently irrelevant to the company's operations. The company denies the allegation that important documents were destroyed.
