Halting projects a preventive measure to minimize loss, says ACC

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said that some works carried out by some state agencies and government-owned companies are being suspended as continuing the projects during the transitional period could cause irrecoverable losses to the state and the people.

Some pro-government parties have criticized the ACC for blocking some operations of state agencies and companies during the government transition period.

In response to these concerns, the ACC issued a statement on Wednesday to clarify its actions. In the statement, ACC said the suspensions are a part of its ongoing investigations and are temporary measures. If the commission needs to amend such a notice, the involved entities would be informed, the commission said.

ACC assured that although some agencies have been asked to suspend certain activities temporarily, they have not been asked to suspend any basic services provided to the public or their administrative operations.

"We would also like to take this opportunity to note that the Commission is working to complete the investigations of the cases as soon as possible," the statement said.
