LGA investigates Felidhoo Council's decision to withhold services

The Local Government Authority (LGA) has initiated an investigation into the recent decision made by V. Felidhoo Council to withhold services from individuals who have outstanding dues to the council.

An LGA official confirmed to AVAS today that the authority is investigating the matter. However, he declined to share further details due to the ongoing investigation.

In an announcement on November 1, Felidhoo Council said it had been making a lot of efforts to recover unpaid dues from individuals, but it had not made enough progress. Therefore, the council has decided not to offer any services to those with outstanding dues, as well as their spouses and children, effective from the beginning of the month, the announcement said.

The council granted five days to settle the dues. It said it would announce the list of individuals who have not cleared their debts every month.
