Alifushi MP Bigey named Majority Leader in Parliament

Alifushi MP Hussain 'Bigey' Rasheed has been appointed the Majority Leader in the Parliament. The announcement was made by Speaker Mohamed Aslam at Tuesday's Parliament sitting.

On November 22, the majority party, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), took a vote among its MPs to elect a Parliamentary Group leader. This move was prompted by the resignation of the former PG leader, Hithadhoo Noth MP Aslam, who resigned from the position after being elected as the Parliament Speaker.

In addition to Bigey, Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir and Kurendhoo MP Abdul Ghani Abdul Hakeem contested for the PG leader post.
