Notices sent to Speaker and Deputy Speaker regarding no-confidence motion

Notices have been officially sent to Parliament Speaker Mohamed Aslam and Deputy Speaker Ahmed Saleem after no-confidence motions were filed against them.

As per parliamentary rules, the motion, initiated by the ruling PNC-PPM coalition and backed by 23 members, triggers a procedural timeline requiring notices to be sent fourteen days from the receipt of the motion.

The motion comes amid the opposing Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the Democrats voting against approving certain ministers in President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's Cabinet, leading to chaos in the Parliament.

Meanwhile, President Dr. Muizzu is set to deliver his address during the Parliament's opening sitting for this year scheduled for tomorrow.
