Pres appoints Uz Ali Abdul Latheef to the JSC

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially appointed Uz Ali Abdul Latheef as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The appointment was made by the President in accordance with the powers vested in him under Article 158 of the Maldivian Constitution and in line with The Judicial Commission Act, and the Legal Professions Act.

The ceremony to present the letter of appointment was held at the President’s Office on Tuesday morning, with Supreme Court Justice Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim administering the oath of office to Uz Ali Abdul Latheef. Following the oath-taking ceremony, President Dr. Muizzu handed over the official letter of appointment to the newly inducted member.

Among the three candidates vying for the position, Uz Ali Abdul Latheef was the sole candidate meeting the requirements. The other two candidates, former High Court Chief Judge Shujau Usman and former Civil Court Judge Zubair Mohamed, were deemed ineligible by the Bar Council.
