President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Ali Shujau as the Commissioner of Police. The appointment ceremony was held at the President’s Office this morning.
Prior to his appointment as Commissioner of Police, Shujau was the Assistant Commissioner of Police and the head of the Central Policing Command.
Ali Sujau joined the Maldives Police Service 25 years ago in December 1997. His educational background includes a degree from Bangalore University, India, and a Masters in Management from the International Islamic University, Malaysia. Additionally, he is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 277, affiliated with the University of Virginia.
In his police service, Shujau has headed the Police Professional Standards Command, serving in the Service Development Directorate, Divisional Operations Command, Information and Communication Directorate, and heading the Family and Child Protection Department. He also served as the head of the Police College.
