Ahmed Shareef has been appointed as the Managing Director of Maldives State Shipping (MSS).
MSS has welcomed Shareef's appointment as the company's head. However, the specific date of Shareef's appointment remains undisclosed.
Shareef is also the Chairman of the Police Board formed under the Maldives Police Service Act. He was the Senior Council Executive of the Male' City Council until his appointment as Managing Director of MSS.
MSS, inaugurated on April 5, 2020, holds 99 percent of its shares under the ownership of the State Trading Organization (STO), with the remaining 1 percent belonging to Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM). The company's first MD of MSS was Abdulla Saeed. He later took over as the Managing Director of STO, and Mohamed Nazim replaced him as the Managing Director of MSS until the end of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's term.
