Pres Dr. Muizzu affirms loyalty of some MPs that still remain with MDP

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized that there are still MDP MPs who, despite not openly joining the PNC, remain aligned with him.

Speaking at a ceremony held at Dharubaaruge in Male’ City on Thursday night, where 13 MPs from the opposing Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) joined the main ruling Peoples’ National Congress (PNC), President Dr. Muizzu said he was personally aware of some MDP MPs who have not joined the PNC openly for various reasons and interests. He asserted that these MPs are aligned with him, and fully committed to standing by him even in the face of adversity.

“These MPs are determined to remain with me even if their fingers are cut off,” said Dr. Muizzu.

President Dr. Muizzu said he was encouraged by the signing of the 13 MDP members to the PNC, and expressed hope that more MDP members would follow suit in the near future. He anticipated misinformation and backlash targeted at the newly joined MPs, and assured that they joined the PNC in the best interest of the country.
