President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has revealed plans for a new resort project in Thaa Atoll.
During the "The President's Answer" program, where he addressed public inquiries, the President assured that an additional resort would be established in Thaa Atoll, which currently has only one resort.
"[The work] will commence this year. Over the next five years, we will bring many resorts to different parts of the atolls covering different sectors," he said.
President Dr. Muizzu further assured that the youth will be given the opportunity to live on their islands while being employed in nearby resorts. The President said the vision will materialize into reality soon.
While an airport is operated in Th. Thimarafushi, President Dr. Muizzu said airports in Th. Guraidhoo and Th. Vilufushi will increase connectivity. Additionally, efforts are underway to expedite the expansion of Velana International Airport (VIA), which will increase the number of tourists, he said.
