Agreement signed with Egyptian company for Hulhumeedhoo-Hithadhoo bridge works

The feasibility study and design work agreement for the construction of a bridge linking Addu City's Hulhumeedhoo and Hithadhoo has been signed.

The project has been awarded to The Arab Contractors, an Egyptian government company, following their expressed interest in the project. The Arab Contractors is conducting surveys for the bridge project free of charge.

The agreement was signed during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's ongoing visit to Addu City, at a ceremony held at Hulhumeedhoo on Monday. Construction and Infrastructure Minister Abdullah Mutthalib signed the agreement on behalf of the Maldives government while Engineer Heba Ahmed Laila signed on behalf of The Arab Contractors.

A bridge spanning approximately 13-15 km is required to connect Hulhumeedhoo and Hithadhoo. Connecting the two islands via a bridge is a presidential pledge of President Dr. Muizzu.
