A total of 8,250 individuals have signed agreements and have been handed over the land registry under the previous government's 'Binveriyaa' Scheme.
A total of 23,088 individuals applied for the first round of the scheme as single and joint applicants. Out of these, 18,955 met the eligibility criteria, resulting in the allocation of 9,003 plots.
The Housing Ministry today said that 118 individuals have been handed over land registries by this government. There are 303 individuals who have not been handed over their land titles while agreements have not been signed with 120 individuals as further evaluation is required, the ministry said.
The Housing Ministry said it is in the process of signing agreements with 212 individuals and handing over the registry. Many of these individuals have been granted a second opportunity to finalize their agreements. The ministry added that 16 people have applied to let go of their land, and 12 beneficiaries have passed away since receiving the land.
The Binveriyaa program offers three sizes of plots for Male' residents. The minimum plot size for an individual is 1,250 sqft. Additional 400 sqft is added for each additional person in case of a joint application. If more than seven people submit the application, a total of 4,000 sqft will be allocated.
