Housing Minister Dr. Ali Haidhar has stated that a large percentage of significant ministry data will be lost if the server that got damaged in a fire that engulfed the ministry last Thursday cannot be salvaged.
The fire broke out at the Housing Ministry on Thursday morning and spread rapidly to the adjacent Construction Ministry before eventually reaching the Environment Ministry.
Speaking to state media PSM, Minister Dr. Haidhar said the fire wiped out almost all of the ministry's data. While it is unlikely that the server can be salvaged, he stated that the loss of data is severe.
"All employee-related data as well as data on our projects are stored on the server. If we cannot access the server, we cannot recover this data," he stated.
Despite the setback, the minister assured that all information and data pertaining to the former government's Gedhoruveriyaa and Binveriyaa Housing Schemes remain unaffected, as all files related to the projects are stored digitally on a cloud hosting.
