President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has nominated two former MIRA chiefs, Yazeed Mohamed and Hassan Zareer, for consideration as the next Commissioner General of Taxation.
The president's nominations for the appointment of the Commissioner General of Taxation as per the Administrative Taxation Act were referred to the relevant Parliament committee for consideration.
Yazeed Mohamed previously served as the Commissioner General of Taxation during the administration of former President Abdullah Yameen, while Hassan Zareer served as Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation during the same period.
The post of Commissioner General of Taxation became vacant following the resignation of the former commissioner, Fathuhullah Jameel, who is set to contest the upcoming parliamentary election under the banner of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
