Chief of Defense Force to retire next month

Chief of Defense Force, Lt. Gen. Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef has decided to retire from the army.

Abdul Raheem has decided to retire next month as he turns 60. The Armed Forces Act states that a soldier can remain in service until the age of 60.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed Abdul Raheem as the Chief of Defense Force on November 17 last year. Prior to this role, he served as the Vice Chief of Defense Force, holding the rank of Major General. On December 11, the President elevated Abdul Raheem to the rank of Lieutenant General.
