Fuvahmulah City Council and RACL sign agreement for tourism zone development

The Fuvahmulah City Council and the Regional Airports Company have signed an agreement to develop a 12-hectare tourism zone in Fuvahmulah City.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Regional Airports by the company's Managing Director, Ahmed Mubeen, while Fuvamulah City Mayor Ismail Rafeeq signed on behalf of the Fuvahmulah City Council.

The land for the project is allocated from vacant land in the Bilhifeyshi area, adjacent to the city's airport.

Under the two-year agreement, the regional airport company will collaborate closely with the city council to attract potential investors for tourism development on the designated site and carry out design work on the project.

Mayor Ismail emphasized that the primary objective is to secure investment and kick-start the project within the current year. While the government and the city council are working together to accommodate private jets at Fuvahmulah Airport, Ismail said the goal is to further develop the airport to cater to more flights and tourists in time for the tourism zone project to reach completion.

There are 21 guesthouses currently operating in Fuvahmulah, one of the most beautiful islands in the Maldives.
