Maldives' fish exports decline by 48 percent

The Maldives' fish exports have recorded a 48 percent decline in the first three months of this year compared to the same period last year.

The Maldives exported 27,698 metric tonnes of fish in the first three months of last year, according to the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA). However, this year, the Maldives exported 14,389 metric tonnes of fish during the period, marking a significant decline from the previous year.

This year's fish exports month by month

January - 4,482 metric tons
February - 6,119 metric tons
March - 3,787 metric tons

Among the various types of fish exports, skipjack tuna was the most prominent, with 9,070 metric tonnes exported. Additionally, 2,954 metric tonnes of yellowfin tuna and 1,904 metric tonnes of canned and poached fish were exported.
