Maldives sweeps four accolades at World Travel Awards

The Maldives has clinched four accolades in the Indian Ocean category at the esteemed World Travel Awards.

The Maldives won the prestigious Indian Ocean Leading Destination Award, Indian Ocean Leading Honeymoon Destination Award, Indian Ocean Leading Green Destination Award, and Indian Ocean Leading Dive Destination Award. The awards were received by Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal, Presidential Advisor Mohamed Khaleel, MMPRC's Chairperson Aisha Noorain Janah, and MMPRC's Chief Executive Officer Fathimath Thaufeeq at a ceremony held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards introduced the Indian Ocean category in 2003. Since its addition, the Maldives has won the Leading Destination award an impressive 17 times, Leading Honeymoon Destination six times, and Leading Dive Destination nine times.

The Tourism Ministry said the Maldives' success at the World Travel Awards will further bolster the Maldives' tourism industry.
